Troubleshooting
What to check when the Bulk Editor doesn't load, a change won't save, or a column or product is missing.
The grid stays on "Loading products…"
The grid loads through the WordPress REST API. If it never appears:
- Reload the page. Your login may have expired; WordPress asks you to log in again.
- Look for an error notice above the grid. A message such as "Sorry, you are not allowed to do that." means your role can't edit products.
- Check the REST API. Go to Tools → Site Health. A security plugin, firewall or server rule that blocks
/wp-json/requests also blocks the grid. Allow requests to/wp-json/gridline/for logged-in users. - Check JavaScript. Gridline needs JavaScript; a notice says so if it's off. Your browser's console may show an error from another plugin's script that stops the page.
A cell turns red when I save
The reason is shown under the cell. Fix the value and save again, or Discard. The most common ones:
- "The sale price must be lower than the regular price." Lower the sale price, or raise the regular price in the same save.
- "Invalid or duplicated SKU." Another product, or a variation, already uses that SKU.
- "Enter a number of 0 or more." Prices can't be negative or contain letters. Use your store's decimal separator.
- "This product doesn't have this field." The product changed type or setting since the page loaded. Reload the grid.
The rest of your products were saved. Only the product with the red cell wasn't.
A cell is greyed out
The field doesn't apply to that product: a variable product's price and stock status come from its variations, stock needs Manage stock, and so on. See Editing cells.
A column is missing
- It may be hidden: open Screen Options and tick it.
- Tags is hidden until you switch it on.
- A column from another plugin appears only while that plugin is active.
A product is missing
- Check the search box and the filters above the grid: they stay set until you change them.
- Trashed products aren't listed. Restore them from Products → Trash.
- Variations aren't rows of their own; search for a variation's SKU to find its product.
Saving is slow
Each product is saved through WooCommerce, which also runs every plugin that reacts to product saves. Saving hundreds of products at once can take a while on busy shared hosting. Save in smaller batches, or show fewer products per page.
Changes don't show on the store
The grid saves straight to the product; check the product screen to confirm. If the store still shows the old price, clear your caching plugin's or host's cache.
Still stuck?
Temporarily switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Five, with only WooCommerce and Gridline active. If the grid works there, the difference is another plugin. Ask in the Gridline support forum on WordPress.org, with what you see and any message on the screen. Gridline Pro customers can also contact us through extendiment.com.
