FAQ
Short answers about saving, variations, permissions, other plugins, Gridline Pro and your data.
Is anything saved before I click Save changes?
No. Edits stay in the grid, highlighted, until you click Save changes. Leaving the screen or changing the page asks before throwing them away.
Is it safe to edit many products at once?
Each product is saved through WooCommerce, as on the product screen, and checked first: a product with an invalid change isn't saved at all. Gridline itself has no undo, so check your changes before saving. Gridline Pro keeps the last 500 saves and can undo any of them.
Can I edit variations?
Not in Gridline: variable products show their price range, and their variations are edited on the product screen. With Gridline Pro, variations get rows of their own under their product.
Can I change one field for a whole selection at once?
In Gridline you edit each cell, and save them all together. Gridline Pro adds bulk changes to a selection: set a value, raise or lower prices by an amount or a percentage, set sale prices as "regular less 15%", round to .99, add or remove categories and tags, with a preview before anything is saved.
Does it work with other plugins?
Yes. Saves go through WooCommerce, so plugins that react to product changes see them. Plugins can also add their own columns; Extendiment's Stockline Pro, Stockpool, Preorderline and Supplyline do.
Can I export or import a spreadsheet?
Gridline doesn't export or import files. Gridline Pro exports what the grid shows as a CSV file. To import, use WooCommerce's own importer under Products → Import.
Who can use the Bulk Editor?
People who can edit products: shop managers and administrators by default.
What is Gridline Pro?
A separate add-on for Gridline, which stays installed. It adds bulk changes with a preview, undo, variation rows, CSV export, adding and duplicating products, and columns for descriptions, images, gallery, attributes, sale dates, tax class, backorders, weight, shipping class, featured and catalog visibility. See extendiment.com/plugins/gridline.
What happens to my data if I delete Gridline?
When you click Deactivate on the Plugins screen, Gridline asks what should happen to its data if you then delete the plugin. Keep it (the default) leaves everyone's column and products-per-page choices in place for a reinstall. Delete it permanently when the plugin is deleted removes them when you delete Gridline. Your products and every change saved to them are never deleted.
Can I translate Gridline?
Yes, on translate.wordpress.org. Translations made there reach your site through WordPress's normal updates.
