Getting started

Requirements

The WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP versions Swatchline needs, and the themes and products it works with.

Versions

Minimum
WordPress 6.5
WooCommerce 8.2 (tested up to 11.1)
PHP 7.4

Themes and blocks

Swatchline puts its swatches where WooCommerce draws the attribute dropdowns of a variable product, so it works with:

  • Classic themes such as Storefront, which use WooCommerce's product templates.
  • Block themes such as Twenty Twenty-Five: the single product template's Add to Cart Form block, and the Add to Cart + Options block (see Block themes).

The swatches take your theme's text colour and font.

Products

Variable products: each attribute used for variations whose swatch type isn't Dropdown shows swatches. Attributes added under Products → Attributes (global attributes) get Colour, Image or Label swatches; attributes typed on a single product (custom attributes) can show as Label swatches, see Settings.

Simple, grouped and external products have no variations to choose, so nothing changes for them.

Other plugins

Swatchline keeps WooCommerce's own dropdowns in the form, hidden, and sets them when a customer picks a swatch. Plugins that work with the variation form (price displays, product add-ons, stock messages, quick views) keep working with it.
