Troubleshooting
What to check when the Table rate doesn't show at checkout, shows the wrong price, or the settings page warns about Rateline Pro.
The Table rate doesn't show at checkout
Work through these in order:
- Is the method in the customer's zone, and enabled? In WooCommerce → Settings → Shipping, the zone that matches the customer's address must list the Table rate with its toggle on. WooCommerce uses the first zone, from the top, that matches the address.
- Does a rule match? If no rule matches the order, the method isn't offered. Check for gaps between bands (5–10 and 12–20 leave 10–12 out) and add a last Always rule as a catch-all.
- Does a no-shipping rule match first? A ticked No shipping rule above the one you expect switches the method off.
- Do the products need shipping? Virtual products don't, so a cart of only virtual products gets no shipping options at all.
- Is the cart's shipping cached? WooCommerce keeps a customer's rates until the cart changes. Change the quantity or reload the checkout after editing rules.
The price isn't what I expected
- Check which rule matched. Go down the table from the top with the order's weight, items, subtotal and shipping classes; the first that fits is the one used. A broad rule higher up wins over a specific one below.
- Check the weights. A product without a weight counts as 0. The weight is per item, times the quantity.
- Check the subtotal. It's after coupons, and includes tax when your store shows prices with tax.
- Check the method's settings. The handling fee, minimum and maximum cost and free shipping coupons change the rule's cost. See Handling fee, minimum and maximum.
The settings page warns that "this table uses Rateline Pro features"
The table was set up with Rateline Pro, and Rateline Pro isn't active now. Rateline keeps every setting, and handles them safely until Pro is back:
- Rules with a postcode, volume or longest side condition never match. The next rule that matches applies instead. Rateline can't check those conditions, and applying such a rule to every order could charge everyone a local or oversize price, or switch shipping off for everyone.
- Only the table's first rate is offered. Rules named for another rate, such as "Express", are skipped.
- Costs are worked out per order, with one rule for the whole order, instead of per shipping class or per item.
These rules show with their condition as "Not available", and are kept as they are when you save. To apply them in full again, activate Rateline Pro. To do without Pro, rewrite those rules with Rateline's own conditions, or delete them; the warning goes once nothing in the table needs Pro.
The rules table is too wide
The table scrolls sideways inside its box on narrow screens. On a laptop, collapse the admin menu (Collapse menu at the bottom of it) for more room.
Still stuck?
Note the order's weight, number of items, subtotal, shipping classes and the customer's country, and which rule you expected to apply. Ask in the Rateline support forum on WordPress.org. Rateline Pro customers can also contact us through extendiment.com.
