Getting started

Requirements

The WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP versions Rateline needs, and the checkouts and store setups it works with.

  • WordPress 6.5 or later (tested up to 7.1)
  • WooCommerce 8.2 or later (tested up to 11.1), active; WordPress won't activate Rateline without it
  • PHP 7.4 or later

What it works with

  • Shipping zones. Table rate is a zone shipping method like WooCommerce's Flat rate and Free shipping. Add it to any zone, as often as you like, each time with its own table.
  • The Cart and Checkout blocks and the classic cart and checkout. Rateline gives WooCommerce its rates; WooCommerce shows them wherever it shows shipping options, including the shipping calculator.
  • High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS). Rateline doesn't read or write orders and declares itself compatible.
  • Taxes. Each method is taxable or not, like WooCommerce's own methods. If your store shows prices with tax, the subtotal in your rules includes tax too.
  • Shipping classes. Your own classes, set on products under Product data → Shipping.

What the rules read from your products

  • Weight: each product's weight (in the unit under WooCommerce → Settings → Products → General), times its quantity, added up.
  • Number of items: the quantities in the cart, added up.
  • Subtotal: the line totals after coupons, as your customers see them.
  • Shipping class: each product's class.

Only items that need shipping count. Virtual and downloadable-only products are left out of the weight, number of items and subtotal.

Nothing else to set up

Rateline adds no database tables, scheduled tasks or external requests. Each Table rate method's settings, rules included, are one WordPress option.
