Costs
A rule's cost is a base amount plus optional amounts per item, per weight unit and a percentage of the subtotal.
When a rule matches, its rate is:
Cost + Per item × number of items + Per lb (or kg) × weight + % of subtotal × subtotal
Fill in only what you need; empty counts as 0. The weight column is named after your store's weight unit.
Examples
| Cost | Per item | Per lb | % of subtotal | 3 items, 8 lbs, $120 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6.95 | $6.95 | A flat price for the band | |||
| 5 | 1.50 | 5 + 3 × 1.50 = $9.50 | A base plus a price per item | ||
| 9.95 | 0.50 | 9.95 + 8 × 0.50 = $13.95 | A base plus a price per lb | ||
| 8 | 8% of 120 = $9.60 | A share of the order's value | |||
| 4 | 5 | 4 + 6 = $10.00 | A base plus a share |
The number of items, weight and subtotal are the same ones the conditions use: the whole order, counting only items that need shipping.
Free shipping
A cost of 0 (with nothing else filled in) makes shipping free. Give the rule a Label such as "Free shipping" so customers see why. See Free, labelled and no-shipping rules.
Decimals and currency
Enter amounts in your store's currency, without the symbol. Decimals can use a point or a comma; Rateline saves them with a point. Rates are rounded to your store's number of decimals at checkout.
Taxes
The method's Tax status decides whether its rates are taxed, like WooCommerce's own methods. Enter costs without tax: WooCommerce adds the tax for the customer's address when the method is taxable.
