# Installing Swatchline Pro - Swatchline 1.x documentation

> Upload the Swatchline Pro zip, activate it next to Swatchline, and enter your license key.

> This is part of **Swatchline Pro**.

Swatchline Pro is an add-on: it adds shop swatches, per-product swatches, sold-out styles, more swatch types and filter swatches to Swatchline, which stays installed and keeps doing everything else. You need both.

## Before you start

- **WooCommerce** and **Swatchline** 1.0.0 or later, installed and active. If you don't have Swatchline yet, install it from **Plugins → Add New Plugin** (search for "Swatchline"); see **Installation**.
- The **swatchline-pro.zip** file and the **license key** from your purchase email. Both are in the email Lemon Squeezy sent after you bought Swatchline Pro.

## Install and activate

1. Go to **Plugins → Add New Plugin** and click **Upload Plugin** at the top.
2. Choose `swatchline-pro.zip` and click **Install Now**.
3. Click **Activate Plugin**.

WordPress won't activate Swatchline Pro while Swatchline or WooCommerce is inactive; it lists what's missing instead. Activate those first.

## Enter your license key

Back on the **Plugins** screen, there's a box under Swatchline Pro:

1. Paste the license key from your purchase email.
2. Click **Activate**.

The box turns green and shows the end of your key and, for a yearly license, the date your updates run until. See **Licenses and updates** for moving it to another site.

> [!NOTE]
> The features work as soon as the plugin is active, with or without a license. The license is what lets WordPress download updates.

## Check it works

- Your shop and category pages show swatches under variable products. See **Shop page swatches**.
- Variable products have a **Swatches** tab in the Product data box. See **Per-product swatches**.
- **WooCommerce → Settings → Products → Swatches** has a **Swatchline Pro** group of settings after Swatchline's.
