# Two-colour and variation image swatches - Swatchline 1.x documentation

> Split swatches with a second colour, and image swatches taken from the variations' own images.

> [!NOTE]
> This is part of **Swatchline Pro**.

## Two-colour swatches

For two-tone values (a striped shirt, a bag with contrast handles), give the value a **Second colour**. Its swatch is split diagonally between the two.

- **For every product**: under **Products → Attributes → Configure terms**, edit the value and set **Second colour** under its Swatch colour. The Swatch column shows the split.
- **For one product**: on the product's **Swatches** tab, fill in **Second colour** next to the colour.

Clear the second colour to go back to a plain swatch.

## Variation image swatches

Your variations probably have photos already. The **Variation image** swatch type uses them: each value shows the image of its first variation that has one, with nothing to upload.

1. Go to **Products → Attributes → Edit** (or the product's **Swatches** tab) and set **Swatch type** to **Variation image**.
2. Make sure the variations have images, under the product's **Variations** tab.

A value whose variations have no image shows an empty swatch. An image set for the value on the product's Swatches tab is used instead of the variation's.

## Image swatches without an image

With **Variation images** on (the default) under **WooCommerce → Settings → Products → Swatches**, ordinary **Image** swatches whose value has no image of its own use the variation's image too. Turn it off to leave those empty until you set an image.

> [!NOTE]
> Without Swatchline Pro, an attribute set to **Variation image** shows WooCommerce's dropdown: Swatchline keeps the setting and leaves the attribute alone rather than showing empty swatches.
