# CSV export and import - Rateline 1.x documentation

> Download a table as a CSV file, edit it in a spreadsheet or copy it to another zone or store, and import it back.

> [!NOTE]
> This is part of **Rateline Pro**.

Rateline Pro adds **Export CSV** and **Import CSV** buttons at the bottom of every rules table.

## Export

Click **Export CSV**. Your browser downloads `table-rate-rules.csv` with the table as it is on the screen, including changes you haven't saved yet. One row per rule, with these columns:

| Column | Holds |
|---|---|
| `rate` | The rate's name, empty for the method's own |
| `condition` | `none` (Always), `weight`, `items`, `subtotal`, `volume` or `longest` |
| `min`, `max` | From and To, empty for no limit |
| `class` | Empty (any), `none` (no shipping class), or the class's name |
| `postcodes` | The destination postcodes, comma separated (in quotes) |
| `cost`, `per_item`, `per_unit`, `percent` | The costs |
| `label` | The rule's own label |
| `hide` | `yes` for No shipping |

Shipping classes are written by name, so the file works in another store with classes of the same name.

## Import

1. Click **Import CSV** and choose a file.
2. The table's rows are replaced with the file's, in the file's order.
3. Check them, then click **Save changes**. Until you save, nothing has changed: reload the page to go back.

The file needs a header row with at least a `condition` or a `cost` column; columns can be in any order, and missing ones stay empty. Shipping classes are matched by name (ignoring case) or ID; a class this store doesn't have becomes **Any**, so check those rules before saving.

## Uses

- **Copy a table to another zone or method**: export it, open the other method's settings, import, save.
- **Edit in a spreadsheet**: export, change prices in bulk (e.g. raise every cost by 5%), save as CSV, import.
- **Keep a copy** before a big change, and import it to go back.
- **Move a table between stores**, e.g. from staging to live.

> [!TIP]
> Spreadsheet apps sometimes change postcodes such as `02134` into numbers and drop the leading zero. Format the postcodes column as text before saving.
