# Installing Packboard Pro - Packboard 1.x documentation

> Upload the Packboard Pro zip, activate it next to Packboard, and enter your license key.

> [!NOTE]
> This is part of **Packboard Pro**.

Packboard Pro is an add-on: it adds pick lists, the pack station and tracking to Packboard, which stays installed and keeps doing everything else. You need both.

## Before you start

- **WooCommerce** and **Packboard** 1.0.0 or later, installed and active. If you don't have Packboard yet, install it from **Plugins → Add New Plugin** (search for "Packboard"); see **Installation**.
- The **packboard-pro.zip** file and the **license key** from your purchase email. Both are in the email Lemon Squeezy sent after you bought Packboard Pro.

## Install and activate

1. Go to **Plugins → Add New Plugin** and click **Upload Plugin** at the top.
2. Choose `packboard-pro.zip` and click **Install Now**.
3. Click **Activate Plugin**.

WordPress won't activate Packboard Pro while Packboard or WooCommerce is inactive; it lists what's missing instead. Activate those first.

## Enter your license key

Back on the **Plugins** screen, there's a box under Packboard Pro:

1. Paste the license key from your purchase email.
2. Click **Activate**.

The box turns green and shows the end of your key and, for a yearly license, the date your updates run until. The key activates Packboard Pro on this site only; see **Licenses and updates** for moving it to another site.

> [!NOTE]
> The features work as soon as the plugin is active, with or without a license. The license is what lets WordPress download updates.

## Check it works

- **WooCommerce → Pack station** is now in the menu, after Fulfillment.
- On **WooCommerce → Fulfillment**, the Picking column has a **Pick list** button, and its cards a **Pack →** link.
- **Mark shipped…** asks for a carrier and tracking numbers.
- Edit a product and open its **Inventory** tab: there's a **Bin location** field.

## Set up in three steps

1. **Bin locations.** Give your products a bin on their Inventory tab, so pick lists follow your shelves. See **Bin locations and pick lists**.
2. **A scanner at the packing bench.** Plug in a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner and open **WooCommerce → Pack station** there. See **The pack station**.
3. **Your carriers.** The ship dialog lists the common ones. If yours is missing, choose **Other**, or ask your developer to add it; see **Carriers and order numbers**.

## While Packboard Pro isn't active

Your bin locations and tracking numbers stay saved on your products and orders. Packboard doesn't show them, and as soon as Packboard Pro is active again, they're all back, with nothing to re-enter.
